Our Little Peoples Early Learning Centre Horsley (Habeda Avenue) is located in the heart of the Horsley suburb. Caring for children from the age of 6 weeks to 6 years old, our programs based off the Early Years Learning Framework, focusing on Being, Belonging, and Becoming are tailored to each child. Transition to School Program is a large part of our Preschool Room. Open 52 weeks a year, only closing for Public Holidays means we are able to provide long opening hours for our hard working families. Recently renovated, our centre provides a wide range of resources for all ages including computers and a smart screen, a spacious outdoor learning area, and we have been registered as SunSmart with the Cancer Council.

Meet Kerrie-Ann, Your Centre Supervisor

Hi, my name is Kerrie-Ann, I recently joined the team here at Horsley Little Peoples as the nominated supervisor and educational leader. I am early childhood teacher – my qualifications are Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)

My career in early childhood began when I was 18. I worked at a 90-place centre in Wollongong as a support worker and then as a full-time educator. I worked here for 6 years before going on maternity leave, we were blessed with a little girl, she was born with a rare liver condition, which resulted in us spending extended amounts of time in hospital. naturally, I took time out of the industry. Once her condition stabilized, I started work as a nanny, we did this for a few years, this role allowed me to have her with me which minimized our time away from each other. It was the perfect fit for our family at the time. As my eldest daughter started school, I finished my work as a nanny and enrolled in uni, my first degree was the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Primary years), During this time I worked in a restaurant and had our second baby.

As my study progressed, I decided to try my luck at getting back into early childhood. In February 2020 I approached Little Peoples and asked for casual work, by August that year I was offered a full-time position as a nominated supervisor at our Horsley centre. It was then that I made the decision to transfer into the Bachelor of Teaching (early childhood). I worked full time, studied full time, and had a 7-year-old and an 18month old. To say it was a busy time is an understatement. I’ve since completed a second uni degree – Bachelor of Education (early years). My girls are now 23 and 16, and we have been blessed with beautiful granddaughter! Our 23-year-old is an early childhood teacher and our 16-year-old is mad about soccer and currently plays in the national premier league (NPL). In 2023 I completed a certificate 111 in fitness and I’m now midway through the certificate 4.

Over the last 14 years I have worked at several Little Peoples sites, including 9 years at Horsley, 2 years at Brooks Reach, 2 years at Oxford Multicultural, and I have assisted at Regent Street and Gwynneville when staff were on leave, before coming a full circle and rejoining the team here at Horsley.

I am passionate about education and care and wish to share my passion with the team of wonderful educators here at Horsley, I aim to share my knowledge and support the team to provide a high level of quality of care for all children. I love watching the children grow and learn. I love the bond we share, the memories we make, and the fun we have. Early childhood should be fun and filled with lots of laughter and happy smiling faces, a happy child is a child who feels safe, secure, and supported, the basis for building confident little humans. For me being an Early Childhood Educator is more than a job, it’s my career and even though it’s one of the most challenging jobs in the world, it’s also one of the most rewarding. I love having an impact on children’s lives and helping them to be the best that they can. I look forward to building relationships with you all and working together to provide your children with a safe environment in which they can become the best version of themselves.
