Meet Kerrie-Ann – Your Centre Supervisor at Early Learning Centre Horsley
Hi, my name is Kerrie-Ann, and I am the Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader at Early Learning Centre Horsley. I hold a Bachelor of Teaching and a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), bringing over 14 years of experience in early childhood education in Horsley.
My career in early childhood began when I was 18 years old, working as a support worker and full-time educator at a 90-place centre in Wollongong. I spent six years in that role before taking maternity leave to care for my daughter, who was born with a rare liver condition. This required us to spend extended time in the hospital, so I took time out of the industry to focus on her health.
Once her condition stabilised, I transitioned into nannying, which allowed me to keep her close while continuing to work with children. As my eldest daughter started school, I finished my time as a nanny and enrolled in university to pursue my passion for teaching. During this period, I worked in a restaurant, studied full-time, and welcomed our second baby.
📌 Returning to Early Childhood & My Role at Early Learning Centre Horsley
As my studies progressed, I decided to return to early childhood education in Horsley. In February 2020, I approached Little Peoples for casual work. By August, I was offered a full-time position as Nominated Supervisor at Early Learning Centre Horsley. That same year, I made the decision to transfer into the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).
Balancing full-time work, full-time study, and raising my children was a challenge, but it was also one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have since completed a Bachelor of Education (Early Years). Today, my daughters are 23 and 16 years old. Our eldest is also an Early Childhood Teacher, and our youngest plays football in the National Premier League (NPL). In 2023, I also completed a Certificate III in Fitness and am currently pursuing a Certificate IV.
📌 My Experience & Passion for Early Childhood Education
Over the last 14 years, I have worked across multiple Little Peoples centres, including:
✔ 9 years at Early Learning Centre Horsley
✔ 2 years at Brooks Reach
✔ 2 years at Oxford Multicultural
✔ Support at Regent Street & Gwynneville
Returning to Early Learning Centre Horsley has brought me full circle. I love leading and supporting a team of dedicated educators to provide high-quality care and education for children.
📌 My Teaching Philosophy
I believe early childhood should be fun, engaging, and filled with laughter. A happy child is a child who feels safe, secure, and supported, which forms the foundation for confidence and lifelong learning.
✔ Encouraging creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills
✔ Building strong relationships with children, families, and educators
✔ Providing a safe and nurturing environment for all children
For me, being an Early Childhood Educator in Horsley is more than a job—it’s my passion. Watching children grow, learn, and become the best versions of themselves is incredibly rewarding.
📌 I look forward to meeting you and working together to provide your child with a safe, supportive learning environment at Early Learning Centre Horsley!
